This document represents the original plat of Sandwich, Illinois, surveyed and certified by DeKalb County Surveyor Horace W. Fay on October 6, 1854. Prepared for landowners Almon Gage and Jacob H. Hall, it shows the earliest layout of the town, including streets, lots, and several early additions.
At the time this map was created, Sandwich existed only on paper. The streets had yet to be built, and the surrounding landscape remained open prairie. This plat marks the moment the town was formally laid out and defined.

This plat reflects the earliest phase of Sandwich’s development, following initial land purchases in 1845. The survey established the town’s street grid and lot divisions, forming the framework upon which the community would grow.
