Located along Center Street near Main, this small building is believed to have served as an early fire department hose house or equipment station. In many small towns, fire protection was decentralized, with equipment stored in multiple locations to allow faster response times. While detailed records of this structure are limited, its presence reflects Sandwich’s early efforts to organize fire protection during a period when much of the town was built of wood and highly vulnerable to fire.
